Fung Bay, Hong Kong
This is a place where my parents have been taking my sisters and I since 1986. My parents are mad beach goers and we inherited the same passion. Over the years the route into this beautiful and rather secluded place varied. ALL involved a walk over a hill, and in the old days we climbed two! Once you complete the trek you will find yourself in a beautiful bay with many beaches to walk to. The beaches at certain times of the year can provide surfable waves and lots of open clean air (or so we hope) AND no your mobile phone will not receive a signal on the beach, gotta be one of the last mobile free zones in Hong Kong. Stanley market on the south side of Hong Kong island

So many memories I have of Stanley Market. From the days when you'd take visitors to Stanley and they'd ask, "What's that smell?" to which you repy, "what smell?" Completely familiar and comfortable with the pig farm at the end of the road. I also remeber when walking down the market it's self some of the stalls were constructed over the water and held up with bamboo. I have also watched the 'Best price shop' move and rename as the 'Good price' shop. We also use to spend all our time on Stanley main beach. My parents were dedicated windsurfers and we would be down in Stanley rain, hail or shine. I learnt to windsurf and sail on Stanley main beach. Then over the other side at St Stephens beach I learnt how to wakeboard. Even though I spent all my childhood in Hong Kong I still grew up on the beach. All the old chinese cafe's - When you found a roach in your food they simple cooked you a new dish free of charge. The rainy days and eating hot chips with far too much salt! The egg noodles AH to remeber the days before discoverying how alergic I am to MSG or Asian magic dust! After college I moved out of home for the first time and yues my flat was in Stanley Market. There I also became manager of the Smugglers Inn. So many dear and fun memories of Stanley.
